I got provisionally accepted into university, with first year financial aid, so I won’t have to go into debt renting a shack with a blanket and bucket toilet. It will still cost an obscene amount, but at least I’ll have some help. There’s little more to this post, actually. I am also planning on applying to more universities just as a safety blanket lest anything drastic happen. Skipping final exams (as per South African regulations) is only allowed if you die or give birth, so seeing as I’m only capable of one of those activities, I need a backup if something goes awry.
Provisional acceptance is essentially the tiny first step towards getting a degree. All that I need to do now is to maintain what I’ve been doing for the last eleven years of my life. That’s a gross oversimplification seeing as today was an onslaught of words of worry and disappointment for myself and my class from many of the school’s staff, but I can hardly blame them. We’re a new school, so the Department of Education is trying to force them through hoops like that tiger from that one scene from that one Madagascar movie. Without results, everyone is getting caned, from the school’s top brass to each pupil; by order, Department of Education.
So for the rest of May and most of June, I’ll be buried in books or pretending to be buried in books while playing this new mobile game I found. If I can maintain my standard of work, by this time next year, I’ll be on the way to becoming an even more insufferable nerd, i.e., working towards a degree in Actuarial Sciences.
I consider my writing on this blog as practice for my creative writing exams. I’ll maybe post something in Afrikaans (my second language) just to reach a new level of trolling.
Take care everyone.

Yes, I am bragging about being accepted without being necessarily accepted. It’s the small victories that count; what’re you gonna do about it?
Congratulations!
