The following are corrections and clarifications from recent The Escapement Room articles. TER and the authors regret any error made or offense taken, such not being the intent of TER or the author.
Take Me to the Bivet, April 2024: The author regrets referring to Jean-Claude Bivet as “LVMH’s former sexy beast and master pimp of fancy fromage.” This characterization was demeaning to Mr. Bivet and to artisanal cheeses in general.
A Slapshot with Bulova, March 2024: The author would like to retract his characterization of Bulova Lunar Pilot wearers as “morbidly obese large wristed astronaut cosplayers”. The author acknowledges that the preferred usage among astronaut cosplayers is “big boned.” The author further acknowledges that the Dubuque Thunderbirds of the Central Hockey League may not have used a Lunar Pilot as a puck in an exhibition game, although the story sounds true.
Why Everything German or Even Remotely German Sounding is Bauhaus, May 2023: Any impression that the reader may have taken from the piece that the author as a child actor was the original Sigmund of Sid and Marty Krofft’s Sigmund and the Sea Monsters was unintentional. Sigmund Ooze was played (in costume) by veteran diminutive actor and founder of Little People of America Billy Barty.
Follow the Science, the Real Problem with the Cartier Santos, July 2022: The study upon which the author based the article, “Roman Numerals and their effect on baseline testosterone levels in adult males, a longitudinal study,” Graef, J., Watchologie Journal, Vol.6 (November 2021) was recently withdrawn when the researcher admitted that he had “made it all up when I was drunk.” TER also will not allow the further use of the derogatory term “turd burglars” (believed to mean “those who would purloin manure”) in future articles.
Yes, that watch is too large for you! August 2023: TER regrets publication of the .gif image of the author repeatedly punching himself in the face as it did not meet TER editorial standards.
