One night stand: Tissot Navigator 44646-1X

Boy, am I in deep mess here. I’m in love with another man’s watch.

This Tissot Navigator belongs to my watchmaker. It came to me after he couldn’t get the crown stem in without the yoke slipping out of the clutch wheel. I thought that I could do it, but the same issue happened to me. It was frustrating, very frustrating. Eventually, I just unscrewed the crown from the stem and slid the stem through the crown tube. With some jiggling the movement was well seated and some extra winding meant that the crown wasn’t going anywhere either. The result is stunning. I don’t like dive watches. This Tissot came along and changed that. It’s like being a megalomaniacal racist in an interracial relationship. “They’re all useless, them, except for her. She’s different for whatever reason.”

I told the watchmaker what one of these can be worth provided a nice strap is put on it. Going off of eBay listings, he could sell it for 500 USD quite easily. That’s where the problem lies. I love this watch; I think it’s amazing, but I have about 50 USD in disposable income at the moment. Couple that with being told, β€œif you buy one more watch, you’re dead to me,” and you have a great recipe for wanting to steal a watch and live in a cave to avoid the law for the rest of one’s life.

At the end of the day, helping the watchmaker out means the world to me. I have said many times how much I appreciate him and all that he does to keep my hobby afloat. The least I could do is give one of his watches some love. In defence of my lustfulness, I did tell him that if I got it going, I would wear it until he opened the shop again on Monday. Nothing personal, just an abnormal infatuation with watches.
